Kobe Shoin Institute for Linguistic Sciences (SILS) is a new
research institute, founded in May 1997. The emphasis of this institute is on a
variety of subfields of both theoretical and applied linguistics and
language studies. Its main activities will be
- Publication of its
feature journal Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at Kobe Shoin
(TALKS) and other technical reports;
- Hosting research meetings such
as colloquia, symposia, and seminars addressed to both specialists and
the public; and
- Acquiring and maintaining books and journals of the
related fields.
