Type Inheritance and Constraints of Phonological Information on HPSG
by Michinao Matsui
Type inheritance is one of the most effective methods to compact
information of lexical items. Some generative grammars including
Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG) adopt this approach.
Many researches have cleared the aspects of semantic or syntactic
type subsumpition. However, little is known about computational
features of constraints based on phonological types. This study
draws the outline of type inheritance of phonological information
in lexical items.
